Fu** It

Never have two words better described an era than the term fu** it in reference to 2020. While I think we can all agree that as the end of the year draws nigh, fond memories of the past twelves months are few and far between, I am here to tell you that I have found a silver lining. Or maybe the lining is blue, purple, pink, or even rainbow, because as people have migrated from their stuffy office building to working digitally from home, we have seen a precipitous rise in the number of our clients requesting what we have lovingly termed '‘FU** IT HAIR”.

So before we get into the visual evidence, maybe I should define the patented Wayward term. You may be thinking that fu** it hair is a close cousin of the quarantine hair everyone was sporting in July out of necessity. You know the look, either a greasy, unkempt top knot, or self cut and styled choppy “layers”. Along the lines of “fu** it, I can’t go to the salon so this is the best I got”. That is not at all how the Wayward crew of master stylists defines the term. Instead, when we say fu** it hair, we mean the hair you have always wanted but were too scared to actually attempt. The hair that you always told yourself you weren’t quite cool enough to pull off, or your boss would have a fit if you walked into the office sporting. Turns out, when you put people in the middle of a pandemic, and tell them they can no longer go to the office but instead have to work from their dining room tables, the blue pixie cut of their dreams seems a little less intimidating.

Fu** it hair isn’t any one specific hair cut, or even a range of hair colors, it is an affirmation that life will go on, and is absolutely worth living out loud. I am so excited that this is the big trend that I am seeing for spring. When Haley May, Hazel, Justin and I can give a client the dream hair they secretly always wanted but until now were too afraid to ask for, that is the epitome of FU** IT!!!

If you aren’t quite sure what this new trend may look like for you, here are some inspiration images I would love to match with the right client:

So if it is your time to go for it, call the salon now, and FU** IT!
