Meet the original Wayward Hairdresser
Kelly’s journey began as a 3-year-old assistant to her grandmother’s hairdresser. Weekends were spent handing curlers to the hairdresser, who would then strategically place the curlers—creating the perfect perm. Kelly, convinced that she worked at the salon, took the curler hand-off task seriously and was mesmerized by every moment. She fell in love with the art and science of hair, as well as the culture of a salon.
By 19, she was a licensed professional and became part of a hairdresser community that supported each other through ups and downs. When an economic downturn hit their commission-based industry hard, they found themselves broke and broken-hearted. To survive, they came up with the idea to pool their earnings and buy a home together which they would call, The Home for Wayward Hairdressers. It would be a place where all are welcome, supported and encouraged. Inspired by those times and devoted to an inclusive and positive environment, Kelly took the leap and opened The Wayward Hairdresser. Come in, she looks forward to meeting you.
