So, I think the CDC may have missed something. When looking at the list released of the symptoms of Covid-19, quarantine hair is nowhere to be found. While not nearly as serious as the problems that have been documented by the Center for Disease Control, I don’t think anyone can deny that one adverse side effect of the last few months is a distinct case of neglected hair. While we as a society have been staying home and working from couches in order to keep ourselves and those around us safe from a global pandemic, our hairstyles have paid the price. We at The Wayward Hairdresser have certainly witnessed the results of months without highlights, grown out roots and at home dye jobs applied during a moment of pandemic boredom. But have no fear, this is one symptom of Covid-19 that we can help alleviate.
Hazel and her client decided that while sometimes blonde’s have more fun, a lower maintenance (but still beautiful) color treatment would be best for the client’s lifestyle. To accomplish a look that would appear natural and complement her client’s skin tone, features and lifestyle, Hazel began with balayage highlights. She then hand painted lowlights throughout her hair to provide dimension to the style. Finally, Hazel finished the look with a copper gloss to add shine before creating movement with a long layered cut that was the best fit for her client’s style and personality. The results of the work that Hazel did are stunning, and the client could not have been happier with her new naturally sun kissed brunette copper shade.
Providing a client with a color that looks seamlessly natural is certainly a challenge, but recently another of the stylists at Wayward was able to take his client from one end of the color spectrum to another. When Justin’s client came into the salon her formerly bright red hair had faded to a muted copper. When she expressed her want for a dramatic change to a rich cobalt blue, Justin couldn’t wait to get started with painting multiple sessions of lightener. He wouldn’t dream of such a color transformation without Olaplex to protect and strengthen during the process. He then applied a shadow root, then several toners, finishing with a custom blend of Pulp Riot blue colors. The results were incredible, and though her hair is now blue, Justin’s client’s mood is completely the opposite.
A unique mix of several shades put the entire Wayward crew in a blue mood!
After taking into account the look that her client was trying to achieve on her own, Hazel began the corrective color process with careful application of a half head balayage. She then applied a cherry red gloss by Aveda to strengthen the hair and provide a lustrous shine that would last while also providing the client with the color she had been dreaming of. Finally, Hazel gave her client a sweet chop to accentuate the playfulness of her new color and the radiance and confidence she felt as a result was evident to everyone in the salon that day. She finally had the look she wanted, and more, all thanks to our sweet and talented Hazel.
