Hey There Haley-May

Senior Stylist

Native New Yorker, Haley-May is a graduate of the Aveda Institute in SoHo and continued her training as an apprentice in salons all over New York. Seriously skilled, she specializes in curly haircuts, balayage highlighting, and dramatic + creative fashion coloring. She is a pro at precision cuts like bobs, and equally skilled at curly cuts and shags. At work, Haley-May loves the simple pleasure of being able to be herself while making her clients feel and look their best. Haley May’s clients are always commenting that “I’ve learned so much” as they leave her chair. That’s because Haley-May is extremely knowledgeable about the technical aspects of doing hair, and she shares that styling knowledge with her clients. Whether it is the best product for a certain hair type, or the best way to dry or style a cut, Haley-May prides herself on clients looking their best every day not just the day they visit the salon.

Outside of the salon, she hosts pub trivia, produces a variety show, and is a student of theater and music. Haley-May is a lover of all animals, and personally keeps her two cats alive. Come for her skills, stay for her lively chats about all things pop culture and share some laughs about the latest show she has binge watched. At the end, you’ll find yourself confidently strutting out the door.

Hello Justin

Senior Stylist and Education Director

"Creating constant motion in hair by focusing on it’s health, integrity, and how it's manipulated is top priority." This is Justin’s mission statement. He has spent 10 years within the Aveda network training under very influential artists and mentors within the business. Using the French technique of controlled cutting, Justin consults with each of his clients to find the most accurate hairstyle to fit their lifestyle. He likes to approach it as a "wash and wear" style with the desired results being natural, and softer around the face. The core of his training also started with precision coloring, with results from a natural seamless blend to more bold and eye catching colors. His dedication to the industry is unparalleled, and he has been published in multiple magazines. This has opened up opportunities for him to work with designers backstage during New York fashion week, as well as, working on set for photoshoots and music videos for artists like Major Lazer & A$AP Rocky. With charisma and southern charm, his personality alone will have you feeling inspired to be a better you.

Hi There, Lynn

Stylist

Lynn is a lifelong hairdresser. She grew up doing her own hair (cut and color) in her hometown of Northport Long Island. Throughout college, Lynn began to experiment with vivid colors, and to this day vivid colors like unicorn or mermaid are some of her favorite services to give her clients. After earning a degree in environmental studies, and working for a non profit and a solar company, Lynn decided to make her hobby a career when she began cosmetology school. Throughout her training, Lynn was able to realize the joy she got from translating her love of color and art into wearable works that her clients love. Though she excels at bright, fun and fashion forward vivid colors, Lynn also enjoys blonding and natural tones. She is also a big fan of cutting, particularly when she gets a chance to give a client a shag, mullet, or funky, punky pixie. Whether you are looking for a posh and beautiful style, or something more edgy, daring and funky, Lynn is your girl. Ultimately her goal is to have every client say “it’s exactly what I wanted” or “I love it”.

Lynn is a lover of all animals, and is passionate about the environment. She is mom to two parakeets, a dog, many fish in her two aquariums as well as numerous house plants. She is a true artistic spirit and is drawn to rainbows, color, glitter, abstracts and anything weird or shocking. In her free time, she even likes to make her own resin art or paint. Come in to the salon, and let Lynn give you the badass style you were meant to have.

Say Hey to Stephanie

Stylist

A native New Yorker, Stephanie grew up an only child who spent most of her time updating her Barbie’s do as often as possible. Raised by her father, Stephanie learned early on that if she wanted her hair to represent her style, she was going to have to make it that way on her own. Friends began to notice Stephanie’s one of a kind hairstyles, and wanted in on the action, so she started fixing other’s hair out of her bedroom at the age of 12 and her ultimate goal of becoming a hairdresser was cemented. She enrolled in Empire Beauty School on 34th St. and was quickly recognized as someone with distinct talent. She was awarded the Star Student of the Year trophy (yes there is actually a trophy) and won 3 other hair competitions within her time at school. Stephanie has also worked on fashion shoots for several publications, and really enjoys the energy of a hectic set.

Since joining our team at Wayward, it is clear that Stephanie has several strengths but her favorite techniques are hand painted balayage (on the canvas of long hair) and clipper cuts on short hair (because these clients are the most adventurous and often end up with the most distinct styles).

Welcome Grace

Junior Stylist

Grace is the newest kid on the block, literally. She was born and raised on the west coast, in Medford, Oregon to be exact. Following the pandemic, Grace decided that she was ready for a different life and a big change in scenery, so she moved across the country to attend the Aveda Arts and Science Institute in New York City.

Grace recently completed her apprenticeship and is now on the floor as a junior stylist. Also, if you found us via social media it is probably because of her (she is our resident social media genius). Though the city streets of Brooklyn have been very welcoming to Grace, and she loves the pace of the city, she is also still a lover of nature. Many of her days off are spent outside the city enjoying the great outdoors.

Meet Liv

Apprentice

Liv is New York gal, sort of. Raised in the upstate town of Kingston, NY, she moved to Brooklyn in 2021 to attend the Aveda Institute of New York. Liv is well on her way to becoming a full time stylist here at Wayward, with a focus on fantasy colors, balayage and barber cuts.

Since she has started at the salon, one thing has become abundantly clear about Liv; her taste in music is vast and eclectic! A lover of all genres from punk to musical theater, her playlist is a thing of beauty, and she is always open to talk about the great new band she just saw live or the latest Off-Broadway show that just opened. We love having Liv around, and you’ll love the results when she gets her crazy creative hands on your hair.
